We're Holding Our 42nd Annual Gala!

Thank you for reading this month’s newsletter. This Labor Day month has been a meaningful one for us, as we continue to support our community and help clients find their way into the workforce. We’re also excited to share a special upcoming event -- our 42nd Annual Gala on Friday, September 26 at Far East Cafe in Chinatown. Join us at 6 pm for an evening of great food, entertainment, special guests, a raffle and more. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your table soon. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Together in Action
Mayor Lurie Chinatown Town Hall

Last month we attended the Mayor’s Chinatown Town Hall to stand with the community, listen, and share feedback on the state of the city. We remain hopeful that San Francisco will continue moving forward and become stronger than ever.
Community Outreach

CCSC prioritizes building community connections as a core part of our mission. Through outreach, we increase awareness of our programs and services and strengthen partnerships with local organizations.
In August we attended quite a few events, including All My Usos Family Day, BMagic's Backpack Giveaway & Resource Fair, Nihonmachi Street Fair and more!

CityBuild Construction Program
Attend a CityBuild Orientation

Are you or anyone you know interested in a career in construction? If so, please attend a CityBuild Academy information session and learn more about the program. Orientations will be held on 9/4/25 and 10/2/25. We hope to see you there!
Youth Programs
New Math Program

CCSC’s After-School Math Program strengthens logic, problem-solving, and real-world math skills through small group, concept-first lessons. Students receive homework help, three days of math instruction, and two days of English, art, and Chinese culture activities. Classes run Monday to Friday from 3:00–5:45 PM. Tuition is $300 per month with optional $50 pick-up from Gordon J. Lau. To register, scan the QR code above or call (415) 881‑3274.
Summer Camp Field Trips

During our last few weeks of summer camp, we went on field trips to Pier 39, the San Francisco Public Library and the San Francisco Zoo! Our youth had a great time. Thank you to all of the organizations who had us!
Summer Camp Concludes with Backpack Giveaway

Charity Cultural Services Center appreciates the deeply committed camp staff, counselors and volunteers to bringing another unforgettable summer experience to the children of our community . On our last day of camp , we send students off for the new school year with new backpacks , school supplies and reading books . We looking forward to seeing everyone again next year! Special Thanks to WCF Insurance for sponsoring all our backpack and supplies.
Family in Transition (FIT)

Family in Transition (FIT) is a cultural and identity program primarily serving AAPI students, but open to all high school students in San Francisco. Through monthly workshops and volunteer opportunities, participants build confidence, explore different cultures and strengthen their college and career readiness. The program supports students in developing a stronger sense of identity and connection to their community.

Digital Literacy Mentoring Opportunity

Interested in making a difference in your community? This free program invites youth ages 15–24 (Chinese fluency preferred) to become digital literacy mentors and support families in navigating the online world. Participants will complete 8 hours of training then lead community mentoring sessions from August 2025 to May 2026. Along the way, mentors will build valuable skills in computer and internet use, public speaking and leadership, all while receiving professional mentorship and career development support. Those who complete the program will also receive a device (subject to funding). Culinary & Hospitality Programs
A New Bartending Class Begins

The first day of CCSC’s Bartending Class was full of energy. Students listened closely to instructor Tom and jumped right into learning new techniques. Everyone was excited to practice skills that will help them start a career in the hospitality industry.
Culinary Classes Open for Enrollment

Our classes in cooking, bartending/barista and hospitality are open for enrollment! No prior industry experience is necessary. Community Announcements
Exciting Opportunity for High School Students

The SF Youth Commission recently shared that the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) program is now accepting applications. This fully funded academic year in Germany gives students the chance to live with a host family, attend a local high school, and develop leadership and cultural skills. No prior German is required — the program is open to U.S. citizens aged 15–18.5. Applications are due November 3, 2025.
Students can learn more and apply here. Families in our community can also apply to host incoming German students, bringing a global perspective to local homes.
Mighty Real

PRC’s Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) program provides critical support to help individuals maintain housing and access care when unexpected crises hit. Join Mighty Real on Friday, October 3 at 6:30 PM at The Pearl in San Francisco to support emergency grants that protect health, keep a roof overhead, and give people the stability they need to move forward.
Back Rent & Move-in Assistance
