Last week, Charity Cultural Services Center (CCSC) hosted it's 6th Annual Lunar New Year Food Giveaway at our Commercial Street center in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Hot meals were prepared by students in CCSC’s culinary training programs and shared with seniors from the Chinatown community.

More than 200 seniors attended the event and received freshly prepared hot meals. Each meal was thoughtfully made using auspicious and healthy ingredients, reflecting the traditions of the Lunar New Year. CCSC’s culinary students, instructors and volunteers gave special attention to preparing and serving the meals to seniors in the community.
The event took place on Chinese Valentine’s Day, making it a meaningful time to show care and appreciation for the seniors who are such an important part of the neighborhood. Staff, volunteers and students worked together to prepare and distribute the meals, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We were honored by visits from many supporters who stopped by to show their encouragement, including Daniel Lurie, Danny Sauter, Iowayna Peña, Mark Im, Claudine Cheng, Alex Youn and many others.

We are also grateful for the support of our sponsors and partners who helped make this event possible, including Comcast, WCF Insurance, the SFPD Asian & Pacific Islander Forum, the San Francisco Police Department, the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, BeChinatown, the Chinese Historical Society of America and more.

Events like this reflect CCSC’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Chinatown community while creating meaningful opportunities for students to practice their skills and give back. Sharing food is one of the simplest ways to bring people together, and we were proud to celebrate the Lunar New Year with our community in this way.
