Thank you for taking the time to read this month’s newsletter. As always, we’re excited to update you on what we’ve been working on, share information about our current programs and give you a preview of what’s coming next.

CCSC Gala Coming - Save the Date!

On September 26th we will hold our 42nd Annual Gala at Far East Cafe in Chinatown at 6pm. There will be food, a raffle, special guests and more. Please save the date and reserve your spot here. We hope to see you there!

Together in Action

SFPD Officers Visit Our Center

ree

We appreciate SFPD Central Station for always checking in to make sure we feel safe and protected in the communities we serve. Glad to give a tour to new Cpt. Christopher Del Gandio and Commander Kim at our Chinatown campus. We were also delighted to have a couple of officers stop by and introduce themselves to our summer camp youth! The kids were really engaged.

Summer Birthdays at CCSC

Charity Cultural Services Center celebrated the birthdays of several of our staff members this month. Happy Birthday to everyone! We had delicious food for lunch and a beautiful cake (plus tiramisu made by one of our birthday celebrants).

Community Outreach

CCSC prioritizes building community connections as a core part of our mission. Through outreach, we increase awareness of our programs and services and strengthen partnerships with local organizations.



In July we visited Southeast Asian Development Center, tabled at Larkin Street Youth Services' job fair and CREAA's real estate expo.

CityBuild Construction Program

Are you or anyone you know interested in a career in construction? If so, please attend a CityBuild Academy information session and learn more about the program. Orientations will be held on 8/7/25, 9/4/25 and 10/2/25. We hope to see you there!

New CityBuild Academy Class

The latest CityBuild Academy has begun! Charity Cultural Services Center is honored to be a part of helping San Franciscans find careers in the construction industry. We work together with Mission Hiring Hall, San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) & City College of San Francisco to make it happen! Congratulations everyone!

Youth Programs

New Math Program

CCSC’s After-School Math Program strengthens logic, problem-solving, and real-world math skills through small group, concept-first lessons. Students receive homework help, three days of math instruction, and two days of English, art, and Chinese culture activities. Classes run Monday to Friday from 3:00–5:45 PM. Tuition is $300 per month with optional $50 pick-up from Gordon J. Lau. To register, scan the QR code above or call (415) 881‑3274.

Summer Camp Counselors

Thank you to our youth counselors (some of them pictured above) for the amazing work you are doing at summer camp! Your energy, creativity and care make each day fun and memorable for the kids, and we appreciate all you do to give them such a great summer.

Summer Camp Field Trips

During summer camp, our youth go on a field trip every week. In July we went to the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park, flew kites at Presidio Tunnel Tops, explored the Exploratorium, had a fantastic art class at the Southeast Community Center and so much more. Only a couple more weeks of summer camp left!

Family in Transition (FIT)

Family in Transition (FIT) is a cultural and identity program primarily serving AAPI students, but open to all high school students in San Francisco. Through monthly workshops and volunteer opportunities, participants build confidence, explore different cultures and strengthen their college and career readiness. The program supports students in developing a stronger sense of identity and connection to their community.

PK-5 Tutoring

PK5 Tutoring is a virtual English tutoring program for PK-5th grade students, led by high school youth. It helps elementary school students in underserved communities enhance their reading and comprehension skills.



We’re seeking high school youth passionate about supporting these students to lead the next generation of this impactful program. For more details on available positions, go here. You can also see slides about the program here.

Digital Literacy Mentoring Opportunity

Interested in making a difference in your community? This free program invites youth ages 15–24 (Chinese fluency preferred) to become digital literacy mentors and support families in navigating the online world. Participants will complete 8 hours of training then lead community mentoring sessions from August 2025 to May 2026. Along the way, mentors will build valuable skills in computer and internet use, public speaking and leadership, all while receiving professional mentorship and career development support. Those who complete the program will also receive a device (subject to funding). Our classes in cooking, bartending/barista and hospitality are open for enrollment! No prior industry experience is necessary. Community Announcements

Family Wealth Conference

ree

The 2025 Annual San Francisco Family Wealth Conference invites families to a free, half-day event dedicated to financial empowerment. Hosted by Assessor-Recorder Joaquín Torres, the conference will feature expert-led presentations, one-on-one consultations and a community resource fair. Attendees will learn about estate planning, property assessments, keeping property in the family and navigating the home insurance crisis. The event takes place Saturday, August 16 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at City College’s Multi-Use Building, 55 Frida Kahlo Way in San Francisco. Food and refreshments will be provided. Backpack Giveaway

Roots & Wings

“Roots and Wings: Celebrating Asian American Youth with the Power of Community” offers a unique opportunity for dynamic and meaningful conversations and community-building, with music, entertainment, and delicious Asian treats.
