How to apply for a driver license if you are over 18

To apply for an original driver license if you are over 18, you will need to do the following:

* Visit a DMV office (make an appointment for faster service)
* Complete application from DL 44 (An original DL 44 form must be submitted. Copies will not be accepted.)
* Give a thumb print
* Have your picture taken
* Provide your social security number
* Verify your birth date and legal presence
* Pay the $12 application fee (the application fee for a commercial driver license is $57)
* Pass a vision exam
* Pass a traffic law and sign test. There are 36 questions on the test. A passing score is at least 31 correct answers. You have three chances to pass.

How to apply for a provisional permit if you are under 18

To apply for a provisional permit, you will need the following:

* Be at least 15, but under 18 years of age
* Visit a DMV office (make an appointment for faster service)
* Complete the application from DL 44 (An original DL 44 form must be submitted. Copies will not be accepted.)
* Have your parents' or guardians' signatures on the application from DL 44
* Give a thumb print
* Have your picture taken
* Provide your social security number
* Verify your birth date and legal presence
* Submit the proper form(s) for driver education and/or driver training classes (See below for details.)
* Pay the $12 application fee (This fee entitles you to three exams of any type within the 12-month period and pays for both the instruction permit and the driver license. If all requirements are not met within the 12-month period, the application becomes void and all steps must be completed again.)

* Pass a vision exam
* Pass a traffic laws and sign test. There are 46 questions on the test. A passing score is at least 39 correct answers. You have three chances to pass the test. If you fail, you must wait 7 days before taking it again.

1 如何取得駕駛執照：
十八歲或以上美國合法居民或持有工作證在美國工作的人士，若想在加州駕駛車輛，必須持有車輛管理局(DMV,以下簡稱車管局）發出的駕駛執照（Driver‘s License）。

× 付$12申請費
× 通過視力測試
進行駕駛條例筆測

2 筆試：
筆試試卷分英文，中文及西班牙文等，你可選擇其中一種，若選擇考中文試卷者，須於進場前與考官聲明。筆試合格後，當場可領取一張有效期一年的“學車許可證”。學
車證不得延期，若考生于一年內無法通過路試者，須重新交納學費及檢驗證明。

3 路試：
考路試前須向車管局預約考試日期及時間，而用作考試的車輛，可以是加州或別州登記，考生必須出示車輛保險證明及考筆試時頒發的“學車許可證”。若通過路試車管局
會與現場爲你照相及列印手指模，并簽發一張“臨時駕駛證”給你，該證有效期爲六十天，而你將於四星期內收到車管局寄出的正式駕駛執照。
