博愛文化服務中心宗旨

Charity Cultural Services Center aims to help children, youth and adults prepare for a better future by offering support and opportunities through education, employment training, and other essential services that promote personal and economic self-sufficiency.

We strive to address the issues and meet the needs of San Franciscans and their families who find themselves living in two different cultures.

We are committed to helping children and youth find their way to academic and scholastic success by promoting cultural identity awareness, social belonging, and responsibility.

We actively seek to nurture and
enrich our community's
greatest asset - its residents so they develop positive identities and competence, are confident of their capabilities, and are armed with the basic skills to become responsible and productive members of society.

博愛文化服務中心的宗旨在於促進兒童、青少年及成年人生活的自主自立。透過教育方案、職業訓練及就業輔導等多元化服務，提供新移民個人及家庭建立美好未來的基礎。

在舊金山，我們著眼於移民及其家庭在文化和語言適應過程中所遇到的各類困擾，包括：兒童及青少年的學業，語言的適應能力，對美國文化的了解與認同，以及社會責任意識的建互。同時，我們也提供社區居民意識成長與工作技能的教育訓練。

我們的服務目標，在於協助華裔社區居民－－－

1. 發展積極的、正面的文化認同與適應能力。
2. 增進自我的認識與自尊的培養。
3. 建立對自我能力的信心。
4. 培養投入公民社會的基本工作技巧與責任感。
5. 建立社區與社群意識。
6. 培養前瞻未來的精神。

History

Charity Cultural Services Center was established in 1983 as a non-profit 501(c) (3) Chinatown based organization. In partnership with government, business, and the educational sector the agency affects the lives of over 4,000 people each year. CCSC offers services that address the needs of the low-income, limited-English proficient, recent immigrant children, youth and adults in San Francisco.

The agency assists newcomer families by:
- Providing skills and support to help ease the transition of life in a new culture.
- Mobilizing and empowering clients by providing tools that allow newcomers to improve quality of life and provide a greater chance at equal opportunities in their new home.

       博愛由於植根僑社，深得僑社支持，所以各項服務年來均有長足的進展，服務了更多的華人同胞，而且，更擴展至其他族裔。

       職業訓練是博愛提供的主要服務，二十多年來，博愛的職業訓練班在華人社區裡有口皆碑，它幫助了無數的新移民、失業人士及低收入家庭獲得了新的技能，找到了新的工作，為他們立足於美國創造了良好的條件。

       我們的職業訓練項目包括有：中餐厨師訓練班、西餐厨師訓練班、調酒侍應班、木工學徒訓練班、建築業訓練班等，各個訓練班有不同的要求，并切合不同的需要。但無論怎樣，有一點是相同的，那就是接受各項職業訓練的畢業生，都有著85％以上高就業率，完全符合聯邦和市政府的要求。

       至於畢業學生的前途，雖然有賴於他們此後各自的努力，也成就不一。但我們已盡了“教會了他們捕魚”的責任。我們深信，學生們有了好的起步，通過努力，前途一定是光明的。別以爲今年年刊中報導的調酒班畢業生，一個時薪只有十一元的售貨員，一躍而成年薪超逾十萬的酒店調酒師只是個別的例子，其實不然。中廚班、西廚班畢業的學生同樣會獲得成功。他們最後當上了老闆，也大有人在。

       其次，職訓班中的建築班，是與市政府合作，為建築行業多個工種培訓人材，是跨族裔的，所收學生不單是華裔，其他族裔也有。他們的前景也是非常樂觀。

       除職訓班外，博愛還有“環保”與“高中生課業輔導”兩大項目。中心與三藩市環保局緊密合作，於華人社區推廣環保工作，加强華人同胞對保護居住環境及個人身體健康的認識。中心也於每日派職員到華裔學生最多的學校替新移民學生補課，計有米慎高中、新僑高中、伽利略技術中學。這個輔導計划，使新來乍到的新移民高中學生得以趕上學校現有的程度，為他們將來入讀大學鋪上坦途。
